Daily Water Conservation Tips
Be water-friendly because you can make a difference! Change little parts of your day to help conserve water. Follow the simple tips listed below. Make it a competition with your friends, family or classmates to see who can save the most water in a week, a month or a whole year!
- Don't run water when it isn't needed
- Keep a jug of ice-cold water in the fridge ready to drink instead of running the tap each time
- Don't keep the water running while brushing your teeth
- Only fill up the bathtub halfway when taking a bath
- Take short showers instead of baths
- Time yourself showering. How many minutes does it take to get clean?
- When doing dishes by hand, fill the sink with water instead of letting the tap run
- Make sure that your dishwasher is full before turning it on
- Do one full load of laundry instead of many small loads
- Is your houseplant or garden looking dry? Collect rain in a bucket or barrel to water your plants, it's better for them than using tap water
- Water your lawn and plants once a week instead of every other day
- Clean sidewalks or driveways with a broom instead of hosing them down
- When washing anything outside, use a pail of soapy water and use a hose only for rinsing
- Have your parents install a water meter. Doing so will drop your water consumption up to 25%
